We are delighted to announce that EIT 2026 conference will be hosted by Prof. Richard Bayford in Sheffield, the birthplace of the EIT.
Building on the rich tradition of previous EIT Conferences, this event offers a vibrant platform for researchers and clinicians from across the globe to share their expertise and insights into the medical applications of Electrical Impedance Tomography, Magnetic Induction Tomography, and Magnetic Resonance Electrical Impedance Tomography.
The conference will explore a wide range of topics, including:

Keynote Speakers
Some reminiscences of Impedance Imaging in Sheffield from 1982 to 2001
This reminiscence will start with a train journey and a conversation between Brian Brown and David Barber. It started with a description by David as to how a fan beam of X-rays, and measurement of an exit profile, is used to reconstruct X-ray CT images by filtered back projection. Brian then considered the analogy between this fan beam and the isopotentials that result from a potential applied between two adjacent electrodes placed on the body and the measurement of the resulting potential gradients around the body. Could an image be formed by filtered back projection of measured potential gradients along these isopotentials? We tried it and it appeared to work.
The twenty years of research that followed, funded by the UK Science Research Council and also by the EU, led to a string of annual meetings on EIT held over many countries of the then EU. In Sheffield this led to improvements such as real time imaging, multi-frequency parametric imaging, correction for body shape and 3-D EIT.
Many potential clinical applications were investigated, some quite unusual such as the measurement of thoracic fluid shifts in space as part of the Juno mission.
Our talk will end with some speculation as to where EIT might next be moving after a more than forty years of gestation.

Proceedings
Following the long-standing tradition of publishing conference proceedings, all abstracts accepted and presented at the conference (both oral and poster) will be included in the proceedings with a DOI-accessible reference.
